ENA Tool Time: Whack-A-Node or Network Monitoring?

Welcome back to the Tool Time edition of the ENA blog. This week we’re discussing ENA’s collection of cool tools that rule your schools’ networks. We realize it takes a lot of time and horsepower to pull the administrative weight of a district’s network, so we have developed a few helpful online applications geared to increase your towing capacity. One of the first things a network administrator learns is how difficult it is to keep up with all the nodes on her network. Pinpointing problems, ousting outages and juking the flukes that happen day to day can be enough to make your hair to turn gray (or vacate altogether)! In an effort to make your game of network Whack-A-Mole a little more manageable, ENA has developed a customer-facing Network Monitoring tool. Simply take aim at monitoring.ena.com with the browser you like best, log in with your ENA account credentials and watch as we report outages and potential slowness for every part of your network where we have a router. This all happens in real time, so by using this tool you get a better warning when a problem peeps out of its hole and you can react faster to smash it back down. You can even see which alerts have been acknowledged and are being worked on by ENA. When we acknowledge an alert on your network, we make a ticket which you can see with another tool that we will discuss later. But you’ll have to come back to read more about that one!

With the understanding that you have enough technology that is tough to use and no time to tinker with it, we’ve made Network Monitoring very basic and simple to figure out.
